thanks HP, the Orchid Society here put on a fantastic show this year, it is held in the grounds of Parliament House and it was fantastic to see such a wonderful venue attract a gorgeous and diverse crowd. I noted while I was there, some of my local friends and also the Head of a neighbouring Government Mission who were all there to look at the spectacular arrangements.

It was a success :)

Reminds me that I have one or two snaps of the wild flower display at Kings Park in Perth. I do only have one or two ‘cause the camera battery went flat; and they’re not brilliant photos – although the display was absolutely gobsmackingly stunning.

Image a paddock of bright yellow carpet, with clumps of blues and purples through it. Some of the purples looked like they were backlit with UV light. Brilliant.

Piccies are on the other puter, so I’ll get to them maybe Wednesday or so. Long enough a gap so they’re not compared too unfavourably against PM’s masterpieces ;-)

thank you pepe, the displays were huge and I think it was the depth of the arrangement that gives it that reflective quality :)

I’ve been meaning to say, I liked the first one best, not because of the orchid itself but because the lighting seemed to show up that …je ne sait quoit? (F7 possibly)…iridesence? velvety-ness? translucence? whatever it is with some orchids that make you stop and wonder just how ephemerally beautiful some orchid petals can be…how fragile and yet strong enough for the purpose…

Our local Orchid and Foliage Society had a showing at woolworths last week…I came away with some lemon-scented geranium and a garden variety geranium that has a spicy smell to the leaves…and also 3rd prize in the raffle…still have to ring them and find out what it was…hoping for the brom they had on display…

Also, other forumers are welcome to correct my spelling in this post…especially the french quote…

;)
