A tangent, if I may.
I always thought mushrooms grew in the shade but I have several growing near my letterbox, which is in full sun.
No. the mycelium is under the ground out of the light. The mushrroms are the fruiting bodies. Some fungi grow on grass roots but many that may be in the sun now are that way because the trees have been removed and eventually the fungi may die out without the trees. Also introduced fungi replace native fungi.
