(shrugs) Seems very sound advice.
Save wear and tear on your shoes by hopping on alternate legs.
I tried that tip but it didn’t work. In fact, the tea bag smelt worse than ever.
Save wear and tear on your shoes by not wearing any.
Never ask for a light at a job interview.
Always make sure you have a lighter with you.
If you want to watch a bit of telly but don’t want to get “too comfortable”, fill your knickers with crumbled Weetbix before you sit down.
Before making humorous references to the peculiarities of wimmin in the workplace at a high profile public gathering, try it out on your wife and see what she thinks.
Need an everyday life tip, urgently.
The only advice I found on the web was either of the type “clean daily with tepid water” or of the type “hire us”. Neither advice was useful to me.
Have an outdoors marble benchtop with dirt embedded deeply, almost a mm into the marble. The original shiny smooth surface is now powdery. I need to make the marble benchtop clean and shiny, looking like new, urgently.

¿Lustro (what’s it made from?). Is this like CLR (calcium-lime-rust)? (Checking wikipedia). “CLR ingredients include water, lactic acid, gluconic acid, lauramine oxide, Propylene Glycol, n-Butyl Ether, and solvents that dissolve cobalt gel coats and paint. The product also contained phosphoric acid at one time, but it is now phosphate-free.”
The second one is of the style “clean daily with tepid water”. “Baking soda and water” wouldn’t be strong enough. “hydrogen peroxide. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for twenty-four hours.” That might be worth a try, but it doesn’t say what concentration of H2O2. “Use fine-grain sandpaper.” Also worth a try, it doesn’t say how “fine”. How fine? Check to see what I have in the garage – not enough for this job.

If the surface is powdery you might need to grind it back and repolish it.

Also you might need a stain remover suitable for use on marble. Don’t plasticise it – either with a table cloth or a sealer. Before you do anything though, is it solid marble or that ‘cultured’ stuff?

It looks solid, but there’s a good chance that they’ve filled up some of the natural holes with something else. I don’t know what ‘cultured stuff’ is.

Composite. Marble dust etc and resin.
If you ever find a good stapler that works reliably without bending or jamming, hold on to it like it’s a precious thing.

All good and well until you have to find new staples. ;)

Can’t remember who wrote this tip but it’s very useful.

I Eat My Peas with Honey
By Anonymous
I eat my peas with honey;
I’ve done it all my life.
It makes the peas taste funny,
But it keeps them on the knife.
FOOTNOTES: This poem was recited on the February 2, 1944 broadcast of the radio program “It Pays to Be Ignorant.” According to the Estate of Shel Silverstein and the archivists who oversee his literary works and manuscripts, Shel Silverstein did not write this poem.

I hadn’t realised that ON died from a lactobacillus infection transmitted by improperly prepared coleslaw.
Seems somehow appropriate.
I’m not sure why.

Best post ever.
Don’t peer down at an electronic device whilst walking across a busy road, it may just get you hit by a vehicle

I was all ready to vote for Shorten, but then he went and spoiled it by stating that the position of Australian Prime minister is just a figurehead of no importance to the well-being of Australia.
When did he say that?
Who’s this Shorten person you speak of? I haven’t seen a Labor leader for a long time…

Results so far. Emery paper was needed to remove the worst deep dirt, I still haven’t got all of it out. Undiluted bleach worked changing grey to yellow after being on for an hour. CLR did nothing. Proprietary “Marble cleaner stain remover” was no better than dishwashing detergent. I’m avoiding phosphoric acid. I thought I’d permanently damaged the marble by using car polish because it left a deep brown stain that couldn’t be removed – but it washed off later when I was washing off the bleach with water.
Still no idea how to get rid of the yellow or how to get a smooth finish. PS, the adjacent wood is also looking weathered and porous with its old stain peeling off.
Bon Ami, scrub, scrub. Jif, scrub, scrub. Finally toothpaste and scrub, scrub.
I’ve done this with bits of marble, although they weren’t badly degraded.

Try asking a monumental mason.
Yep. Probably the cheapest way in the long run.
Don’t forget to go to bed when it gets late.
