I’ve just wasted the last few minutes reading that article. It’s utter crap, with absolutely no scientific merit. Whoever wrote it knows nothing about physics.

It is like some doodle by a 12 year old who knows just enough science to be dangerous.

It is a vacuum airship and glider.

Two things about this: vacuum airships are not possible with any material known. If he has developed some material that has a strength to weight ratio suitable for this, he should patent it and make a trillion dollars and forget this idea. The other thing is that airships and gliders do not have remotely thr same shapes. So is his idea that you use the vacuum cells to lift the glider, and then release them?

Couldn’t find what I was looking, for but a guy in the USA did a thousand mile out and return flight in the 60’s which is like flying from Melbourne to Sydney and return.

There have been some seriously long glider flights in Europe, and particularly Germany, where they can use mountain winds to stay up for up to about 14 hours.

There have been some seriously long glider flights in Europe, and particularly Germany, where they can use mountain winds to stay up for up to about 14 hours.

Yes it is called “ridge soaring”, seagulls and other birds have done this for longer than humans have.

i’m impressed, especially with the vacuum idea.
