I’ve got a book about how to remove stains. In the bit about removing ballpoint pen from fabric, the first instruction says to “Rot some milk on the sun”. Then you rub the spoiled milk into the stain, scribble with soap and wash.

How would the spoiled milk help loosen an ink stain? For red ink, it’s suggested to run the stain with white spirits before the milk.

Lactic acid?

Have just discovered a product called “dissolve it” which does a terrific job (much better than both alcohols and nail polish remover) of removing glues.

The only thing that might make a difference would be the lactic acid, and I can think of a nicer way to find a food acid…

I have found that milk stains as well…. for ball point pen stains spray with hairspray and rub then wash as normal… (colour tested)

Can’t see that working, it would evaporate long before you got there.

Just find something else that fluoresces at the same wavelength and cover absolutely everything with it.

“One of the men, 48, was then allegedly assaulted by a group of men and fell to the ground. His friends, aged 27 and 32, rushed to his aid but were also assaulted.”

Milk is pretty awesome for growing bacteria, and some of them are good from breaking up oils and such. Just sayin’.

Wasn’t it about ink rather than oils?

There are so many variables with ink types and what it has stained. Milk doesn’t cut it. Vinegar and if that doesn’t work, use rubbing alcohol.
I’d save the milk for spraying mildew with.

Again i depends on the ink. Some are soluble in water.

Some fibres are unwashable in water.

I use black ink and wear black (or faded black) clothes to work (mostly). I put my pens in my back pocket, sometimes my front pocket. If there’s a leak it only shows up on the pocket lining or my skin. The jeans are fine!

Problem solved.
