I’ll assume this is a free for all thread
the Greek economic crisis
the whole point about loans is that it’s not meant to destroy the host, a loan is meant to be a slow and sure drain of resources from the loan taker.
what’s the point of taking Greece to a point where it tells the lender to go to hell, shut up shop and withdraw from the banking system that gave them the loan in the first place ?
the lender should never have been allowed to give the loan in the first place , in Australia lenders have been taken to court for doing this kind of thing.
I suppose it could be easier for the government to just use another currency , the dollar , the pound to teach the EU a lesson. if they ever give people a vote in the UK Britain would be out of the EU in a heart beat

It might be easier and less damaging to destroy a nation via debt than go to war with it.

War would be one way to go into debt.

Indeed modern warfare is so costly
If you watch the Indian closely you will see that he is dying to speak.
He has the patience of Gandhi and the rugged good looks of Ravi Kapoor.

He’s better dressed than Gandhi, he’s got a tie for starters and probably sensible shoes.
He might be a deaf and dumb mute placed there for his cultural significance.

He’s Brian Cox’s taxi driver – he’s worried because the cab’s parked on a meter outside, and he’s due to be at his son’s wedding in twenty-five minutes.

It is clear to me that he was in fact telling Brian what to say, tele-pathetically.
He’s barely moving his lips yet working that Brian Cox doll expertly. Gets the voice just right.
