Last week several hundred Kurds were killed when ISIS militants staged a series of bloody raids on Kobane – the Syrian predominately Kurdish city just yards from the Turkish border that the terrorists besieged for several months late last year.

According to unverified reports on the ground, the massive car bomb that sparked the raid was detonated after Turkish border guards opened the crossing to let the rigged ISIS vehicle into Syria.

saw that, he stood on a landmine (or at least triggered one)

normally a defended post will have landmines around triggered by an attack

its hard to say where you might put the mines

if you are expecting a serious attack you’d want to be defending – put the mines infront of the barbed wire

if you want to inflict casualties, put them behind the wire, when they get over the wire and the mines go off they will find it harder to get away and are thus driven towards your guns

it must have been a big bang – landmines are normally about injuring you not killing you
