Is there a difference between a person with a spinal injury maintaining and building muscle tissue using a motorised pedal system or an oscillating board if they were assisted to stand upright where a machine raise the left and right foot alternatively but marginally on a flat board.

The boards that raise and lower standing feet/legs with a tilting and alternating action on a motorised board. How do they work and DO they assist and maintain muscle tone and bulk ?

My instinct is to say that passive movement is unlikely to maintain bulk. I think some of the thing with muscles is the actual effort of them doing the work.

I thought it wouldn’t do much the machine advertised on tv but then thought about people whom have spinal cords injuries like Christopher reeves who used machines strapped to his legs daily and then thought hmmmm…

Might be better than nothing.

Part of muscle building requires fat burning exercise. Not sure that mechanically assisted movement can achieve this.
