Stars in Milky Way have moved

Researchers have created a new map of the Milky Way that shows nearly a third of the stars have dramatically changed their orbits.

Without reading the link yet it is interesting to note that research saying that Stone Henge or the Pyramids etc. line up with certain celestial bodies and thus proving some woo theory is bollocks because if they line up today they certainly didn’t line up thousands of years ago.
Steve Primus was all over that.

Yes and no. It’s been known since 1919 that, because stars travel in elliptical orbits throughout the galaxy, those that form together will become widely separated over time. What’s surprising here (to me at least) is that the observed orbits of stars about the Milky Way are very far from elliptical, in a way that can’t be explained by dark matter. These orbits are extremely strongly affected by local mass concentrations such as those in galactic arms.
