No, about $8 a day. I told SWMBO not to bother, she got it put on anyway. The only time I turned it on was for the cricket…and wasn’t that a disaster.

You talking WA Cameron Bancroft?
Had to look him up.
A wicketkeeper with an average of 37 at first class level.
That’s not too bad for a 22 year old.
You obviously think his future lies in specialist batting at the top of the order, brave choice.

In fairness he a specialist batmen in that he does open for WA and has also opened the batting for Australia A.

He was also one of the leading run scorers in the last shield season, scoring almost 900 runs at more than 47 with a 13 hr double century (against a fully kitted up Blues squad) in there as well.

Sam Whiteman has been the first choice wicketkeeper for WA for the last 2 seasons. Bancroft has been playing as a specialist opener, only filling in as keeper when Whiteman was injured for a couple of limited overs games.

I’m happy for him to be there also.. he’s 35 and while he’s ace-cakes he’s just too old to be developing into a long term player for Australia.

I think he is just there as a stop-gap player until some younger player actually starts demanding selection with some good domestic performances. At the time there wasn’t really an obvious choice. It’s just a consolation for him to finish off his career saying he played a few tests for Australia.

To tell the truth the way I see it. Clarke pushed himself on the team too long, by din’t of selectors or coach or he himself, I don’t really know and I’m waffling but he should have walked when Smithy first had that chance.

A better effort from Australia, but too little too late. The English have already taken a 3-1 lead in a 5-match series, so Australia have lost overall. This is the last of 5 matches, but it is a dead game.

I can’t wait ‘till this evening’s play and Cook stops sandbagging and unleashes the fury of the England tail.

Without looking it up I imagine it was the disaster in India.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking, you’re talking about Waugh’s call in 2001 yeah?

Yes.

Australia is the only side to have lost after enforcing the follow-on; something that has happened three times.

Not sure when we did last enforce the follow on though… I imagine we would have had a more than a few chances to enforce it over the past 14 years though…

Ah well having consulted the boffins it turns out that Ponting enforced 4 times out of the 13 opportunities to do so.

This is Clarke’s first such enforcement.

It must be noted that the poms only regained the ashes because they employed an aussie coach. :)

During tea on the radio they played an interview with Arthur Morris who died in the nervous nineties yesterday.
The interview was done a few years ago but he was in fine form.
He was at the other end when Bradman was out for a duck in his final test.
No one remembers his 196 in that innings.

There have been 37 reviews in the series so far only two of which have been successful.
Umpires having a very good series.

There’s probably going to be about 15 more overs of play at the end of the day.

If they survive that, they might be set, as tomorrow is going to be solidly rained out.
