If you can understand American football (grid iron) then you proly can understand their politics too, I don’t feel deprived that I don’t understand either.

Neither is particularly hard to understand, they both just take a long time to play out…

OK, let me rephrase that, I don’t know why they bother with either then.

American football is easy to understand. Only took me one or two games to pick up the basics.

Not really. You get 4 tackles to move the ball 10 yards, If you get the 10 yards the counter resets and you get another “1st & 10”, and so on till you either score a touch-down or you get tackled the 4th time, or you kick the ball down the field as far as you can, or you attempt a field-goal. With each tackle the ball is reset at the yardage mark where the tackle was made. Teams can either run or pass (throw) the ball forward to gain their 10 yards.
