There is a vaccine for anthrax. What other bacteria can be vaccinated against? Are their certain categories of bacteria that are amenable to vaccination?

Diphtheria
typhoid
TB
Meningococcal
no vaccine is guaranteed
you have to use vaccines to give herd immunity
my significant other has had two hep B shots and neither have stimulated an immune response for example
anyone coming to Australia should have standard vaccines given as a requirement – regardless of where you have come from
Are you aware that it is possible to include more than one sentence in a post, wookie? You can include everything you want to say, then wait for a response and then reply to it, to mimic a conversation. It’s not like Twitter.

Tetanus and whooping cough are two common ones that come to mind.
I believe smallpox and polio are viruses.

Hence the question mark. I didn’t know if they were viruses or bacteria.

And it’s still around in Mongolia just waiting for another chance to get out.
Well it’s still around in the USA, including this case from a couple of months back http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/site/index.php?pageid=event_desc&edis_id=BH-20150621-48754-USA
there is a vaccination for Ebola now I think

Ebola virus is a virus.
HIV is a virus.
Hepatitis C is a virus.
RSV is a virus.
Cytomegalovirus is a virus.
Malaria is a eukaryotic single celled parasite.
looks like I am confusing bacteria with viruses
scratch all those viruses off the list
newer vaccines or vaccines that are under development,
meningococci,
pneumococci,
H. influenzae
enteropathogenic E. coli.
Haemophilus influenzae is a bacteria
my basic understanding is that virus are partial, primitive forms of life, they aren’t as developed as bacteria. virus are replicating chains of code , bacteria are individual cells with a nucleus , shell and other stuff contained in the shell. two basic shapes of bacteria are rod and ball shaped.
when virus invade the body they inject their DNA into our cells to replicate, when bacteria invade they take over and destroy our cells
How about industrial dysentery?

Aye, they should change its name. It is not actually connected to the flu, it is just one of those funny historical naming mistakes.
Technically, TB is Mycobacterium. As is Leprosy.

Are you being serious when you imply that you have never had Leprosy?

Didn’t imply that.
I have had Mycobacterium Avium Complex. Which one does not need to leave the country to get.

What I did say, was that as far as I know. There are no vaccinations against Mycobacterium. Such afflictions are treatable with antibiotics if one continues the full course.

Well, in a way, TB is simply internal leprosy in that it is the same family? ;)
and here’s a new case today
Bubonic plague reported in Michigan

Another American has come down with the plague — and this time, they’re not out West.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced Monday that a person in that state had the bubonic plague, one of what is now 14 such cases reported nationwide in 2015.
