Discovery of a highly efficient catalyst eases way to hydrogen economy

Hydrogen could be the ideal fuel: Whether used to make electricity in a fuel cell or burned to make heat, the only byproduct is water; there is no climate-altering carbon dioxide. Like gasoline, hydrogen could also be used to store energy. Scientists now report a hydrogen-making catalyst containing phosphorus and sulfur — both common elements — and cobalt, a metal that is 1,000 times cheaper than platinum.

Isn’t water vapour also a greenhouse gas?

Yes, but ask Michael V about a World without water and he’ll explain why additional water vapour is not a problem.

We’ll send it to the moon

if we wanted to get rid of all that extra water vapour we could tax it

Which of course, if human sourced water vapour emissions were a significant contributor to climate change, would be a perfectly sensible thing to do.

In fact to tax CO2 and not H20 in that situation would be just stupid.

But since H-S H20 is in fact not a significant contributor to climate change, we don’t need to tax it.

So we’ll have to look elsewhere for the additional government income that will make us all better off.

I suggest raising income tax.

we could raise taxes and knock the plebs out once and for all

the problem is that there are far too many people using too much energy

we could start a famine like chairman Mao and reduce pleb numbers that way

the best way to tackle climate change is to introduce more 457 visas here , the plebs dying under a tide of taxes and famine could be replaced by 457 visas and other more acceptable people

by rationalising the population into two classes the dwindling pedant class would be slum dwellers using little to no carbon based fuels and the elite that drive around in teslas and Prius

as far as I’m concerned all these measures to help the environment are badly disguised schemes of social engineering.

we already have more than enough being collected in taxes

the NBN money if it had been spent on renewable would mean that a huge fraction of our energy was clean

just imagine if the 900 dollars being handed out by Rudd was spent building renewable energy instead of on TVs

once you realise we could have built a entirely renewable energy system over and over again with the already existing taxes you realise it is all a lie

Wookie – you really should try applying some sceptical thought to the abbott/hockey style meme that all taxes are bad.

tax per se isn’t bad, it’s how it’s used how much is paid

if we had any form of decent government all things would flow
