They leave the nest and jump up on nearby branches for a while, it’s a prelude to fledging.

S15 the sea eagle chick that hadn’t fledged decided today was the day, stepped off into the void and went straight down apparently.
They are searching for him now.

He was off-nest last night, after an unsuccessful return from a higher branch. AFAIK, he spent last night and most of today on a branch below the nest. Wasn’t aware that he is now missing :/
