new email address might be easier
thats what I did the other day
wow did the junk mail drop
Thousands, I just ignore most of them.
Are you trying to stop spam?
I’ve been using the unsubscribe option recently, but of course it doesn’t much. It works for some of them, but not much.
If my email address starts getting a considerable amount of spam, I delete the account and create a new one. But that’s easy for me because I have my own domains (about 8 or so) and web host, so I’ve got unlimited access and bandwidth to create more. Just sucks having to let everyone know what my new email address is.
Luckily I’ve only had to do that a couple of times.
Now I don’t sign up for mailing lists, unless I’m using my Hotmail account. And I don’t care if that gets spammed because it’s filtered.
Yeah I just checked, 8988 is the current number if I don’t delete enough does my mail box explode?
Save your important emails and delete the rest
some email programs have an archive option to compress them for storage
there are options for deleting or backing up email stored on the server when it gets full
contact your provider to find out how to set up email options
sometimes you can increase your online email storage space
on a computer upgrade to a large hard drive if storage is becoming a problem
if you find that your looking through a whole lot of emails to find things then set up sub folders, set it so that emails go into specific folders automatically or you can opt to do it manually
if storage is not a problem and you have no problem finding things then just leave it as it is.
I agree with JTQ dont sign up for mailing lists
often they pass mailing lists onto other companies who might sell it etc
I get often asked at office works for an email address

I get FA junk
I gave one of my little-used email addresses (kept for occasions like this) to an ethnic newspaper where I’d just placed an advert. I hadn’t had any mail to that address for months, but within hours of the newspaper getting it, I started to receive all sorts of spam, mostly from eastern Europe.
Coincidence? I think not.
Nothing current.
Four different emails used selectively. Spam filters…
Hairdresser asked me for an email contact yesterday. I said “No. You’ve got a couple of phone numbers…
Oh yes..

1980 in my inbox. Do they come in faster than you can read the ones you want to read? If not then they will.
Don’t worry about it until your email provider shuts down your account.
If I’m lucky, I’ll get an email per week. Otherwise it sits empty for ages. I get one per month from the National Library otherwise.
There should be a provision, I think in the tools menu, to block sender. This can stop some of the junk.
Set up some automatic filters and rules. I can’t think of an email client that doesn’t let you do this.
You can set them using almost any criteria you want.
They go along the lines of:
If subject contains “spam” send to junk folder
If sender equals spam@spambot.com send to junk folder
The other thing to do is set up a spam catcher account. I have a Yahoo account that I use specifically for those websites that want me to provide an email address. It keeps my inbox free for things I actually want to read.
