Here, put it all here.
I walked part of the track in 1967, some infamous corner or something. That was plenty of excitement for me, it’ll last me till the end of my days.

Did we wave to you as my father drove past? It must have been in that year he did a circuit, my last visit.
Bathurst used to be good when you could see the cars beneath the advertising slogans, when the cars looked different from one another, and when the race was a real test of manufacturing quality. I can remember a year when all the Datsuns dropped a diff on Conrad straight.

Rain!

A fellow I used to work with is a track marshall – he told me that the camera on the long track that runs alongside the main straight is referred to by the crew as….the Dropbear.

I know it’s a public road and all, but I’m still amused that it has a speed limit. It’s a popular place for learners in Bathurst. Good corners and it’s surprisingly hard for a learner to master the skill of driving in a straight line.

I think you need to take into account the Isothermal process..
I was channel surfing and when I landed on Bathurst, it said air temp was 19, track 20-something, cabin 40. I was wondering why it was so hot inside then realised aircon would slow the car.
update on Mostert, re the sun glare and sun direction.
He was following the tyre marks on the track and the sun angle on them made them blend into the rest of the track, so it wasn’t glare in his eyes (sun being to his right rear) but the sheen on the track masking the line he was trying to follow

yeah, motor running, no aircon and small gaps in the windows.
Street style circuits heat up cars rather quickly due to the concrete walls close up reflecting the heat into the cars

One of the best Bathursts had Perkins recovering places and four wheel drifting around every corner to a win whilst it was bucketing.
rain is a great equaliser.
Takes the performance differences out of it and puts more emphasis on the driver
