This place was first set up because the ABC closed down its forum over holidays in summer. As it says on the front page of this forum. It was a very long time ago. Much later it became a refuge.

I thought the forum was for the calender holiday period as well.
I can’t really remember, but I think it was mostly for the Summer ABC shutdown. Not sure for how many years now. And when there were breakdowns at the ABC we used to come over here.
it was originally set up for when the abc servers had a meltdown. then it came in handy when they closed for chrissie. never had any sock puppets.

Now there was a gallon tin of strawberries on the forum last night and we didn’t eat them all.
When I asked the steward for another portion late last night he said they were all gone.
Someone has made a key to the galley fridge and stolen those strawberries and I’m going to find out who it is.

I made them into icecream. I’m sure I told you I was going to do that. Unfortunately it has frozen very, very solid. You will need to take the container out of the freezer and sit it for a while before you can scoop some out.

The Whale Watching forum seemed to be a favourite, but it was shut down soon afterwards when ABC staff realised what was going on. It was only then that this forum was set up as a refuge.
Regarding Paul H, wasn’t it the “Bruce” thread that was the problem? He said he felt sorry for it for being caged, encouraged great discussion, then announced that he had euthed it as he thought it a kinder act. Later he said Bruce did not actually exist, to the ire of many.
