“In both tiers of next season’s County Championship, the visiting captain will be given the option of bowling first which, if he chooses to take, will see the toss rendered unnecessary.”

This is outrageous, the toss is as much a part of cricket as ball rubbing.

I suspect there will be civil disobedience and a hashtag.

I agree the toss is an integral and important part of cricket, but I also understand the reasoning for “tossing” the toss.

It is widely believed Jeff Thompson bowled at speeds up to 180km in his prime.

Why not include “tippty run” in the new rules if your bat makes contact the ball you have to run, and over the boundary fence you are out but you get 6 added to your score.
