I remember being invited to Government House (the home of the Governor of Victoria) over my involvement with that synchrotron. The Governor at the time (whom I met) was John Landy.

Really, wow. I have visited there and asked a lot of dumb questions during open day. I saw the Australian synchrotron as a big success, but someone associated with the original design thought otherwise, he thought there should have been more than twice the number of beam lines.

I had a minor role during the design phase.
