For the first time in my life, the ants have stopped coming into my kitchen. Two days was all it took. Two other species attempted entry. A tiny portion near those accesses did the same thiong. Now I’m trying it on a termite nest.

Will that work? well, the stuff comes in 5g tube. I barely used 1g in the previous jobs. I put the rest in a spot where termties enter a 44 gal drum full of termite dirt.

OK. Photos coming but they aren’t using the drum nor could I dig to find them. Maybe I should fill the nest with molten aluminium?

Mrs m feeds the ants in our kitchen. Honey brings them in, though they prefer maple syrup.

The Guys on Johnson Atoll report good results with Thiamethoxam for Yellow Crazies.

It’s been tested on a number of termites with good results.

It’s worth noting that for termites you need to put out enough liquid that they come into contact with treated soil or timber. Depending on the concentration, 5g may not be enough to ensure the job is done.

mine were using a 44 which was one of two I had stacked the unused bits of oregon on that had come out of a 150 year old church and been used as beams in a hay shed for another 50 years. I put them on drums thinking that would keep them up above the termites. Wrong!
They only left the Callitris fence posts which were under it all.

I only used about four grams and that is at 0.1g per kilo of Selleys talon ant killer.

Don’t really know what I was ever going to use 8m long bits of 8” by 5” Oregon for anyway.

I lifted the drum and squirted it into the hole they were using to access the drum. They were there in huge numbers, now there are none. I may have only scared them away but I’m a happier chappie.

I left it alone for about four days then had another look. I was pleasntly surprised to find no termites.
