The problem with light-sabre’s using laser as a blade comes when you try to deflect blaster beams. Photons do not have reflective properties(TIAAO), so my cal is that they would require the use of ionised elements in some form.

Would electrons or ionised particles be more practical in achieving the construction of a light-sabre?

Would this allow greater management properties through the application of magnetics?

Not laser, plasma beam in a magnetic bottle.

Yes that is what I was thinking.

I’ve always disliked the light-sabre. No practical device comes even remotely close to looking like that.

The whipsword on the other hand.

Not much good against a bolt from a blaster though.

Not many weapons could be deployed fast enough.

I agree. The science of Star Wars is crap, as is the entire series.

i’m not sure anyone said ever said it was necessarily light or plasma

it could be something that has a rod that extends and spews plasma over the surface of the rod
