I found the chook who was starting to break eggs, Spot..(of dubious parentage, she was a high school hatchling)..she’s now in a pen of her own and isn’t laying either, so I,m looking to replace her too soon.

those ducklings are growing in leaps and bounds, aren’t they?

the neighbour’s miniature bunny doe seems to be a permanent visitor at our place now. She is too fast for me to catch and I suspect that she pops in and out of both places regularly enough that they don’t really realise she is here. Noticed today a pile of freshly dug dirt behind the duck’s bathtub. I wonder if she is going to have babies in the hole she has dug? Guess I’ll find out in 3 or 4 weeks if I see little buns running around.

Little babies are whizzing round the pen with Bonnie…… except for the last chicken that was born.

She was laying there gasping and so she is inside in my breadmaker box with a mess cover (keep the cats nurses out) and a light over her.

I am hoping she is just suffering from the coolness of the night air and will improve under the light I have over her.

I was going to bop her on the head, but I just couldn’t lift my arm, to do the deed.

So I am praying and hoping she will improve as the day goes by. She is so tiny compared to the others.

Give it RICE Lucky.

Raise it, and rest it.

Put some Ice in a towel and put it on for 20-30 min.

Put on a compression bandage.

You should keep off it, you’ll only make it worse and slow the healing.

Thanks Pepe…. I am hoping to try my hand at roasting and preserving some this evening. Picked a few red ones for trying out the idea of it.

Yes with the lack of rain the ground has hardened and his not very forgiving when putting a garden fork into the area.

Spot ( chook) was put down, she had muscle wasting and at 6 year’s of age .. and I wasn’t prepared to spend $$$ to find out what was wrong.
I’m seriously tired and headachy so it’s off to lay down for a while.

LOL, makes it easy when trying to get a set of animals from one area to another.

Guess it boils down to having 500 square miles of sheep station to live on as a kis and all areas are names…..

that chinese beef looks yummy, and easy to make too.

about your capsicums, did you put them in the fridge or in the cupboard? I think this method is not a way of keeping them, but just a way of serving them, and has to be kept in the fridge. Sounds like yours started to ferment.

Lucky that garlic bread looks lovely . And.. if you get enough garlic bulbs to fill a jar , cover with extra virgin olive oil and they keep in the cupboard…the oil is great to brush on steak too :)

I have garlic bulbs in oil for a year and they are yummo.

No you dont have to do anything to the garlic bulb’s Lucky, just peel em and pack in a sterile jar , fill with the EVOL ,and yes you can use the bulb’s as you would normal garlic, and no they wont ferment and bubble.
The oil would actually be great to brush on your garlic bread too :)

I use the garlic bulb’s in oil to push slivers into lamb for roasting, and the oil to baste.

I want to know what bread maker you have ! Does it have a timer ?

Oh I forgot to add, it take’s about 6 week’s for the olive oil to be infused with the garlic flavour.

I’d be keeping them in the fridge. I am sure someone on the old forum a long time ago said that they can be a source of botulism otherwise…

Check out the free feed we got for the gang this morning…..:D

http://luckysduckfarm.blogspot.com/

The gang had a lovely feed this morning…… 1/2 a box of greens, other half this evening and the other box tomorrow.

That’s great Lucky :)

I never thought of asking my greengrocer for leafy scrap’s…so I did and got a lettuce box full of cabbage leaves :)

It doesn’t hurt to ask as all they can say is no.

I used to do this when we bred Guinea pigs, boy they got through a lot of food too.

seems to be a lot of grass parrots around – nice birds – quite unlike the raucous cockatoos.
