G’day everyone, need some input on what to grow along 18 meters of chicken wire at 900mm high.

I was thinking of 2 – 3 passion fruit vines?

Oh buggered if I know… I know food plants not measurements……LOL

I had a passionfruit vine climbing over a normal height fence. I’d be more interested in the trellis/fence/wire is solid enough to hold the passionfruit vine up for a few years.

Hang on I’ll hobble to the elf and ask him. he knows measurements.

He showed me how low that is……bit low for my liking…….passionfruit vines are climbers and can they take over an area.

It will grow over whatever you provide. It’s not going to sulk because the support is only 900mm! As long as it gets the sun and water it requires it will grow over anything you want. However you would need to consider if the fence is strong enough to support it.

What is the initial purpose of the fence anyway? Perhaps that could lend itself to some ideas.

BG, it’s a farm fence with star pickets and 4 strands of wire with the netting fixed to it. It’s initially used to stop the horses getting out

are there still horses? will you be able to water here or will it be rainfall only? Are you wanting to disguise the fence or just make good use of it?

you could also think about kiwi fruit or bramble berries.

Still got nags on the place and we want to do both, hide and make use of it.

Don’t worry about water, i have 17,000 gallons or 76,000 litres of rain water and also a dam

you will want to grow something that the horses aren’t going to want to eat themselves.
