Consciousness occurs in ‘time slices’ lasting only milliseconds, study suggests

The question of how exactly we experience the world through our perception of consciousness is one that’s long intrigued scientists and philosophers. And at its core are two divergent hypotheses.

This is just a mathematical model isn’t it? They haven’t actually measured anything?

No argument from me on that one.

put that into what’s anticipated, of, that there is a box of tricks for that (with a processing delay) that arrives at whatever, and you have an every day awareness experience of its internal workings.

i’d see things from a mind experiences something of its workings first, external world second. Just as a joke is funny because of the mental gymnastics done, or some view is beautiful.

so, if you anticipate processing required, this is a conscious perception that precedes whatever being taken in.

involving peceptions maybe about the perceptual apparatus

.05 – .4 seconds?

50 milliseconds — cycle time for the lowest audible tone, 20 Hz
5 to 80 milliseconds — typical latency for a broadband internet connection (important for playing online games)
150 milliseconds — recommended maximum time delay for telephone service
200 milliseconds — the time it takes the human brain to recognize emotion in facial expressions
300 to 400 milliseconds — the time for the human eye to blink
