looks fungal
Your pictures are too small to make an accurate assessment
Have you looked at the backs of the leaves?
g’day muschee – definitely a problem or two there.
fungal disease after the rain is my guess – look up black spot.
- gardening australia has a fact sheet on the problem in roses.
- more wind, less humidity, potash, bordeaux mixture and dispose of all effected leaves.
if it is the humidity the problem is going to be widespread up there.

I think the top link shows pictures larger.
The back of the leaf is the same.

HI Pepe,
Thanks for that. I actually had a thought it could be black spot. I have been having probs with my roses with this. The Mulberry tree is right next to my roses, but I think this could be something different. I wondered if Mulberry gets a rust? My roses have had a bright yellow ditted powder underneath leaves, but I have just been picking them off and binning them. I should really do some research and get to the bottom of it.
that was meant to be dotted powder :)
Back at lunch time.

could be mites
mites are a common problem
as is black spot and other fungal diseases such as rust.
A mulberry tree getting infected from a nearby rose sounds like a terribly long shot to me.
Unless your rainfall is hugely better than mine.. I’d say you were barking up the wrong tree on that one.
There are myriads of insects which cause damage and the same with fungal problems.
Most of these things affect plants that are not in full health.. ie: not getting what they actually need to be in full health.
The first of which are: adequate water supply, adequate drainage.. healthy root system.. the ability to supply the leaves with adequate water supply and nutrient requirements..
I see so many sick trees ..and yet I see so many healthy trees.
Many times I have recommended simply that people make sure their plant gets watered properly if they actually want it to grow.
It is as likely as not that these black spots are actually frost burns.
When was the photo taken?
I’d better clarify.. the burns on your lucerne tree couldd have been caused by freezing drops of water..
The what appears to be rust on your mulberry appears to be insect damage rather than fungal.
