Mr D rang us from wherever he was (on the road), and would you believe that we had been driving into it but not noticed? Mind you by the time he rang us, the twilight had just become optimal for viewing…such a wonderful sapphire backdrop of a sky…he thouht it was Mars and Venus…well being a man he would…and because we continued to drive west we had a wonderful view of it for the next 2 hours…
As Bubba Louie said “look up”!
I usually do…when it’s good and dark…not during twilight…but then again being on the road we saw it better, I think, than if we were in town (no town light “noise”)…

Wonderful!
That link didn’t work—I was unable to see it here last night as there was cloud cover—plus I don’t get a good look to the weat from here
Grasshopper, copy and paste the link into the address field, if clicking on it does not work…beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and because I am interested in astronomy I find that particular shot wonderful, even tho it is not a professional photograph…
Yes I did that Dinetta—didn’t work said it was unable to find—I also love the Astonomy as well often go to the Siding Springs area here—very interesting
The moon was smiling last night, she had twinkle-toes… sorry no pic available from me…but I did make a point of looking up to check…might not be there tonight as they were very low at dusk tonight…
I’m disappointed that I missed it…

Looking at some of the photos on the ABC News, the further south skies looked to be more charcoal or grey, the further north skies looked blue…our sky has been a lovely almost sapphire blue at that time of day and the effect was stunning…
I can only imagine what it could have looked like up your way…would have been blink or you’ll miss it! diamonds show up so well on dark blues…

you should keep on describing it, I’m almost ready to believe that maybe I didn’t miss it after all…
I missed it up here, as I have spent the last two weeks travelling and not being online meant I missed bubbas look up call :(

++++++++++++
I would not have noticed it as it was dusk when I was driving, and at that time of day one tends to watch the road (this is the time roos and other wildlife come out, remember?) but the wonders of mobile telephones, MrD had heard it on his wireless and phoned the message through…so it was at the Duaringa truckstop we first saw this phenomenon…I have missed so many other night-sky displays I feel I was entitled to enjoy this one…all the way home…
I am sorry you missed it too…
Sonny Joe is always telling me “people never look up” and I say that’s because they need to negotiate the obstacles on your bedroom floor, mate!

I’m sorry you missed it too. I was looking forward to the moon shot I was sure you would capture just perfectly. Now we will have to wait till 2020 (I think) to see it again.

I’ll put that down in the diary… and hopefully we’ll have clear skies still in order to see it.

We will most likely have something bigger and better to swoon over in 10 years. That’s the way of the world. Good to say “Hello” to you PM.
