This is what I have picked thus far as a set list I like for riff based music I can do something with for an audience.

Money – Pink Floyd
Learning To Fly – Pink Floyd
Sultans Of Swing – Dire Straits
Money For Nothing – Dire Straits
Black Betty – Ram Jam
Heatseeker – AC/DC
Razors Edge – AC/DC
No Quarter – Led Zeppelin
Bring It On Home – Led Zeppelin
Kashmir – Led Zeppelin
Gypsy Eyes – Jimi Hendrix
Voodoo Chile – Jimi Hendrix
Times Like These – Foo Fighters
Sledgehammer – Peter Gabriel
Simply Irresistible – Robert Palmer
Land Down Under – Men At Work
House Of Cards – Australian Crawl
Throw Down Your Guns – Australian Crawl
Powderfinger & Wolfmother picks yet to be decided

I have a quantity of other stuff I already know that can fill some spaces but am looking to add a few more songs to this list for a broader appeal. Input would be appreciated.

Cheers

Is it riff-heavy?

Pete Townshend isn’t such a riff man.

Have to pass. I’ve had to pick songs that have such distinctive rhythm sections I don’t need to sing for people to know the song. Interestingly I just picked myself a couple of guest artists to join in when they are around so the act is getting there.

He pulled off a couple.

I’ll have to go through their collection to finalise that choice.

It’s a little difficult to build a list with wide appeal as you want riff based songs, and they tend to gravitate to a certain style but here’s a few.

Sunshine of your love – Cream
Cocaine – JJ Cale
That Liquor – Husky Burnette
My Sweet Lord – George Harrison
Long Line – The Angels
Layla – Derek and the Dominos
Lonely Boy – The Black Keys
Seven Nation Army – The White Stripes
Lawyers Guns and Money – Warren Zevon
Jumpin’ Jack Flash – The Rolling Stones
Trouble Everyday – Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention
Paradise city – Guns and Roses
Song for Sonny Liston – Mark Knopfler

Only bit of the song I could remember at the time but yes, thank you. It is an aussie song that reflects Pink Floyd for me musically.

+ a version of Rock The Kasbah twisted to Rock The Caspers (this will be worked on by some of the indigenous musos down there I know).
