Bernard Salt: time for the me generation to accept hardship
So whoever this guy is he’s raised this issue in a remarkably repugnant fashion. This is essentially the baby boomer generation seeking to safeguard their retirement nest eggs by blaming the state of, dare I say, their economy on the younger generations.
So what happens when you assume entitlement to handing on a torch?
This question is not just directed at the baby boomer generation but also the political system that employs it’s system of internal promotion intended to minimise internal dysfunctional competition but easily used to maximise a cushy job with minimum oversight, obviously not a system that provides anything for the community that isn’t delivered in a completely back-handed fashion.
With this as an example being set by those who claim to be those who should be listened to it should have surprised no one that the goth/emo culture of jaded disinterest is reflected within the voting youth population of the globe. The UK/US/AUS political systems are reaping the return of a limited liability system in which all credit is taken with no recognisable responsibility provided in return.
The question that remains to be answered is can those in areas of authority genuinely predict the result of failing to come up with effective solutions to the challenges they throw at the children they claim to raise?
