Apparently Hep C can now be cured. Did we know about this?

A friend’s husband had Hep. C since the ’70’s after a transfusion following a motorbike accident. He had the treatment about 2 years ago.

Couldn’t work. Lost a heap of weight. Looked like death.

From memory, the treatment lasted 6 months. He did not complete it all; cutting it about 3 weeks short. Said he’d rather die than continue.

So far, all blood tests have come back clear.

I see three ways to look at this.
1. The “physio” paradigm.
Make the treatment impossible to complete, then you can claim that everyone who completes the treatment is cured.
2. The “fda” paradigm.
Every useful treatment has side effects.
Ban everything that has side effects.
3. The “forever” paradigm.
Yippee. The first non-surgical cure of a significant disease since 1942.

Am I getting too cynical?

Cynicism is the enemy, Mr. Fumble.

Did you look at the link in the first post? The medications do seem to completely cure the illness within a 12-week course, with little or no side effects.

The information is provided by Hepatitis Victoria.
