Can anyone give me any clues what the bees do here in summer time.
This is a pot with my carrot seedlings just bursting out and the bees……well I’m not sure what they’re doin in there.
It’s like they are almost starting to burrow into the soil. I suspect the moisture has plenty to do with it, now we have some hotter days. I don’t want to discourage them, but it does make watering risky business.

hope this works, everytime I use pb it’s changed!!

To solve your problem put a dish under the pot a dish wide enough to allow the bees to drink from the bottom and also to allow the carrots to think there is some water to go looking for.

I do have other pots with a dish underneath, and same thing, they are on the soil surface, but also some go to the saucer.
Just wondering if I can attract them to another area?

Yes you can locate the bee hive and place water closer.. Bees love economy.. They won’t stop sucking the water off the surface for this is the natural way to get water without getting wings wet.. otherwise plasce a dish of water closer to the hive with corks floating in it.. for them to sit on.

Bees just love sucking water from wet soil.. go wandering around any puddle within 1 km of a bee hive.

When I was little and we lived in the CQ scrub, my mother had to do all her laundry by hand (although she did have a copper)…she would go to wring (“hi” from Sonny Joe) out the clothes, particularly during the rinsing, and there would be an !!ow!! – she had been stung by a bee that had crawled in for the moisture…

So perhaps you could try leaving fairly wet cloths lying around, as if you were handwashing the laundry??

You know, all bundled/scrunched up…you would have to shake them for bees before re-soaking,,,

Just hang a cloth over the rim of a bucket full of water and they will beable to land on it and suck water until the level drops pelow the rag end.

And if I used a yellow cloth should that attract them even more, yes. Mr M had a yellow bike and he always had dramas with bees
