We have had a fair bit of rain in the last 6 weeks or so and my duckpens are in need of mulch. I had a word with my next-door-but-one treelopper neighbour on Thursday afternoon. This is what part of my driveway looks like now! Imagine another 10 or so big barrowloads on top of what is still there.

Yes – and at the right price – eggs! He dumped a load on Fri and unexpectedly more yesterday! I certainly need it all but not all at once! But it was late, too late for him to take it to the tip and he wanted to empty and clean his truck to move rellies furniture today. So we are helping each other out. There will be more whenever i need some, as it fits in with him :) Haven’t tackled any today – it is later afternoon work, or early morning when in shade.

Will you rake the old mulch from the duck yard onto the garden or compost this Cackles???

I have to rake “Freedom Road” once I start the compost making this evening. Just to make the place a bit tidier and easier on the eye.

I sift through old stuff and take out sticks and bigger bits not broken down. Do a bit of playing with it, with feathered helpers sticking their beaks and bills in, sorting some to compost, some to wheelie bin. Have been leaving pruning on ground and some sticks need removing now that foliage has come off. Had a lovely time last week sitting under Tangelo tree doing that, loosening soil if needed, crumbling clods etc and just enjoying company of chooks and ducks – dawdling! :) So mainly will just top up after tossing the existing stuff a bit.

We have one like that in our front yard too Cackles. I am kinda hoping that a good samaratin with a big barrow is looking for something to do.
