Subject: Practice Exercise

I just thought of a worthwhile exercise to familiarise myself with while absorbing Huygen’s-Fresnel principal and instanton material, moll.

Were you inclined to submit a thesis on Hawking radiation being an/the answer to the information paradox, how would you present this and how would it be reviewed?

Tin-foil will not shield you from Hawking radiation. Almost entirely certain of that. Opera glasses? Probably a good way to get punched in the eye by a graviton when examining this subject………

First read up on the information paradox – lots of information falls in but it gets lost on the way to the centre. Then read Susskind’s solution to the information paradox. Then compare that with other proposed solutions to the information paradox, such as the fuzzball.

In fact, almost certainly the best introduction is this youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xs_4tDnMKl4 . Warning, it’s long.

Just so you aren’t confused, when I say “find myself somewhere I consider dangerous without knowing quite how I got there”, I simply mean that the purpose of my mental exercise is to identify the gravitational mechanism. Anywhere else the map takes me can simply be a sanity bending diversion that does little for progress. For instance, I still have heard zilch to convinces me that DM being baryon-like can ruled out. What if such a high mass baryon simply does not refract low energy photons? Maybe it only refracts Hawking radiation in a manner that diffuses that energy for normal baryonic matter to absorb. Such things cannot simply be ruled out by amateurs with “no” conditioned into their muscle memory.

Cool. Should make good companion material for H-F principal to warm up for that ridiculously convoluted instanton information.

It is a marked change to have a small collection of topics specific to the area to absorb rather than mountains and mountains of work to comb through to find just tiny little clues. :)

Annoyingly, matter having to pass through the EH to approach the singularity leaves it first exposed to Hawking radiation which leaves me immediately assuming that in-falling matter would simply get some form of re-assignment to a higher energy state. I guess I’ll try not to think about it till I’ve got through the material you’ve lined up for me.
