Yes, NASA’s New Megarocket Will Be More Powerful Than the Saturn V
NASA’s huge new Space Launch System (SLS) rocket will indeed be the most powerful booster ever built, agency officials said.
There’s been some confusion and controversy about this claim ever since the SLS — which NASA is developing to get astronauts to Mars and other deep-space destinations — was announced in September 2011.

NASA’s Space Launch System
The Space Launch System (SLS) is an American Space Shuttle-derived heavy expendable launch vehicle being designed by NASA. It follows the cancellation of the Constellation program, and is to replace the retired Space Shuttle. The NASA Authorization Act of 2010 envisions the transformation of the Constellation program’s Ares I and Ares V vehicle designs into a single launch vehicle usable for both crew and cargo, similar to the Ares IV. The SLS will be the most powerful rocket ever built, with about 20% more thrust than the Saturn V and a comparable payload capacity, putting the SLS into the super heavy-lift launch vehicle class of rockets.

they might just run out of money
the moon missions were brought to a grinding halt because the yansk were fighting vietnam. given the money they have been losing since 2001 i just don’t see it happening.
the yank POWs were told of the moon landings by posting parcels with stamps depicting astronauts on the moon on the aid parcels to their prisoners in vietnam – useless trivia

Economic costs. The Defense Department reported that the overall cost of the Vietnam war was $173 billion (equivalent to $770 billion in 2003 dollars). Veteran’s benefits and interest would add another $250 billion ($1 Trillion in 2003 dollars).

if you used robots in war it would bring the costs down immensely – no veterans or other costs such as spouses , living away costs , etc etc , you wouldn’t even need to buy crappy camouflage uniforms from china to dress your soldiers – robots are naked

a mechanised land force could bring down the costs immeasuably – no hospital bills or sawing off limbs and all the other crap that goes with launching a campaign. you keep attack quickly and keep momentum. robots don’t need food, they don’t need to keep warm and they absolutely will not stop.

no anti biotics
no field dressings
no IV
no cas evac
no canteen
robots could be dropped onto and off the battle field at will via hexacopters that act as the eyes and ears of the army and drop bombs onto key positions
rather than build a robot that can last for hours on end and drain batteries you could pick up drained units and drop fresh units into the fight, human opponets would be continual attack day and night with no let up until their positions are over run

How many hours do their powerpacks work in battle before a recharge is needed?

a robot could crawl forward with the armour facing forward to absorb shells from the opponent , you could have cheap HDPE as an armour

depends
it wouldn’t matter anyway, fresh robots could be dropped continously or fresh batteries

I don’t think so. There would be too many drone robots shooting down the resuppliers and the fresh batteries would just sit there as the depleted robot wouldn’‘t have any energy to install.

or they could pick them up before they get to that point?
it will be a race between factory output

Also all the fallen robots can be collected by the other side and reprogrammed. Not so easy with humans.

maybe you wouldnt bother
just keep going hard at winning batles than wasting robots times to collect waste, you could use humans to do that

then dance on their little robot corpses collecting munitions…

I do ok with a pulse grenade against robots in Fallout. Humans are resourceful and adaptable so I wouldn’t be writing them off too soon.

unless they are shielded against that and they march across your trenches mowing your men down, their glowing eyes searching for the next kill

weeks
a few months?
