Does Our Galaxy Have a Habitable Zone?

I’ve got to say, you are one of the luckiest people I’ve ever met.

For starters, you are the descendant of an incomprehensible number of lifeforms who were successful, and survived long enough to find a partner, procreate, and have an offspring. Billions of years, and you are the result of an unbroken chain of success, surviving through global catastrophe after catastrophe. Nice going.

It is more than interesting that life on earth all shares a common dna ancestry.

It is also interesting that we have no other type of life here. That is not to say a different form evolved and was out competed to extinction by our dna ancestors.

Viruses could be an exception if they were considered life by science.

Sort of.

It’s not so much a zone as a region that resembles Swiss cheese. Close proximity to supernovae would make a compact region uninhabitable. Add together all the supernovae since the formation of the Milky Way and that’s a lot of holes.

Habitable does not imply inhabited.

But they can be killed, they can die.

No other form of life? I think memes and malware can at least try to claim the property of life.
