a well looked after dog, a happy dog, lives a good life
it is true though, a fact, that he lives under the poverty line
dependent too.
so’s a poor, dependent dog.

If you think of “money” as a direct measure of the value of “work performed”, wild animals have to work hard for their living so don’t live under the poverty line.

Maybe send larry to a dog kennel for a few days,
he gets to meet other dogs, have lots of dog chats,
comes home again.

The official definition of “poverty line” in Australia applies the criteria to families as a whole, never to dependents alone. So if Larry’s family is above the poverty line then Larry, as a dependent of that family, lives above the poverty line as well.

It all depends how you measure poverty. Is it a poverty of any education?
a lack of comparative intellects to communicate with?

Myself though have loved both dogs and cats lots of times in my life, long ago gave up any idea of attempting to keep them.
I have no concievable reason to. thus, I keep other things that mean more to me.
I have many thousands of pet plants for example.

Possibly. Don’t really know how to fit it in at this stage. it is what is holding me back. If I could convert the fences into some kind of cat-proof barrier I could just let it run in the yard.

There was a bloke who fitted rollers at top of fence where cat feet would touchland and slip off rather than gain footage.
Kiss it. Either cage the cat or at least keep it yardbound.

Don’t you be ruining the thought experiment now.
Larry probably has offspring, but I doubt canine family is terribly important to him. I’d guess he’s got around a bit in his time and probably has avoided his parental responsibilities and paying maintenance.
Larry’s dog, domestic dog, a human’s domestic dog. He’s got no job, no education, he’s penniless, dependent.
The official definition of family doesn’t apply to him, he’s dog.
He’s living under the poverty line.
I’m considering a little consciousnes-raising with him, explaining poverty to him, and the poverty line.

Along fence gives it something to attach to but any SSSF .eng exspurt would, in English say; but without support will pull the fence down.

I call all pets “cuckoos”.
They just haven’t figured out how to kill human babies yet.
Though I was recently watching on TV that toxoplasmosis reduces the fertility of sheep. Perhaps humans, too.
