More to come.
Before photos of our backyard.
After. You can orient yourself by the Jac and you can see the pipe inside the shadehouse where the old hoist was.
Love it Bubba—you have done great work—love those Queenslanders—truely lovey.
great before and after shots… but you left one out.. You were cute 22 years ago .. so how does the remodelled “after’ version look ? ;)
Love the before and afters of your houses…shame they are so expensive to build these days…but I guess everybody “needs” 3 toilets, study, rumpus, living and formal areas these days…it just hit me the other day how adding the lattice to the verandah’s virtually turned them into another “room”…I can recall up to 4 guests happily sleeping on my mother’s verandahs…
and I meant to say that you looked how I thought you would, except I thought your hair would be a raven black…
Cool wedding snap, what time of year was that? Must have been winter for a suit like that in Brisvegas?

Back in “those” days, men fainted when wearing suits to funerals conducted during the heat of the Queensland summer…it happened a couple of times out home…can’t you remember the days when suits were de rigeur? Boy you must be younger than I thought….and an Adelaide-ian, too…Those were the days when every man (but not his dawg) had no problems with what to wear…suits to everything except the back yard barbie, but one still needed a tie for them to look properly dressed…shorts and long socks with lace-up shoes…whoops but I digress…retraces steps back from Memory Lane

I am younger than you think…. hee hee hee. I recall seeing footage of men wearing suits everywhere, from mining salt on Yorke Peninsula to watching the Don bat at Adelaide Oval, the prettiest sporting ground in the world then, and now. But when I was a young lad, my Premier, a rather festive camping type showed up to work one day wearing pink shorts and his long socks and short sleeved shirt, and they were short shorts! My stars!
I do recall wearing a suit to my sister’s wedding in Adelaide in December… Lucky for us, it was a cool summers day.
Very interesting, Bubba, having been in your garden :)
What a wonderful restoration & transformation of the house & garden, respectively, and one you and Mr BL must be very proud of!

Nope, late Dec. It was a morning wedding and the coat came off pronto.

I loved my garden at the old house. The photo was taken soon after the restoration and doesn’t show it all. The lady who bought it did a great job adding to it as well, but it became a rental and it’s been downhill all the way since.
I can’t really avoid seeing it because it’s just around the corner.

That…is the precise reason I had the lap band surgery. I got sick of losing the same kilos over and over. Losing weight is easy compared to keeping it off!
I know now though, I chose the right help.
I’ll never put the excess weight back on.
The house restoration is one of the best I’ve seen BL.
What a transformation!
>I chose the right help.
Me too. A bloke I used to work with had the bypass operation, and though he dropped 30 or 40kg, he suffers from the side effects..,

The workman’s cottage?
Everyone thought we were mad to buy it, but we were completely naive. No way would we take something like that on again. It would have been easier to knock it down and start again.
The inside was worse and there had actually been people living there not long before we bought it. It took a long time before we considered it habitable.
Top marks for the scanning.. and the retro backwards example.
Yes you were too cute ;)
Aww such cute baby pics :)
You’re all so adorable.
I don’t have any :( all were lost in a house fire in Ferntree Gully when I was little, about ’62 or ’63.
The youngest one I have is when I was 8 and a bridemaid at my sisters wedding.

I agree, Bubba. Sometimes it is better to get rid of the original and build a new one…a sister in law of mine did almost that…hired professionals…it took nearly a year…they had to rent a unit for about 3 months…but it does look good now…they retained the essential charm plus about half of the original house…

Yes they did and many like my parents really couldn’t afford to do it. In my case it was lucky that they did. I am the only girl out of five children and in the middle. When I was little my father was starting to process his own photos…my two older brothers got to his unprocessed films and exposed many of the rolls…all photos of me apparently…lol

Processing your own film was fun…I saw it done a couple of times…my father processed his own movies…that was our highlight of the weekend sometimes, watching Dad’s movies again…we even had “Steamboat Willie” to start the evening off…
With the formal baby portraits, there was a travelling photographer came to town a couple of years apart…very much a huge event…haircuts and rollers to school…brand new frocks, ties etc…I had my hair especially blonded as one came to town to “do” the deb ball where I was a flowergirl…

My eldests grade 1 class, during their first week at school, were asked for a word starting with M, and then they had to try and spell it.
He came up with molecule, and made a fair attempt at spelling it. His teacher was gob smacked, but I’m afraid all thanks go to Graham Base’s Animalia. LOL
I’m a very proud parent. My children were always coming home with achievement awards and at the end of their schooling companies were calling me asking me to allow my children to work for them.. offering me jobs to give to my kids!
I never exected that all those years of just trying to make better people than myself could have such results.
To this day., I know I can trust them not to call me from a police station.
Happy dad…

Tresverd means “Three Swords” – the giant monument marking the battle of Hafrsfjord where Harald Hårfagre united the nation for the first time. The viking chieftans signalled the new peace by thrusting their swords into the ground.

Having stood beside them, I can say those swords are huge! About 6” thick, not wide, and maybe 10metres high.

I’m just scanning a whole bunch of old photos now. :)Bubba, what dpi did you opt for and what size are your scanned files? Just out of curiosity ;)
Speak English!!!!!! LOL
Sorry, you’ll have to wait until I ask one of the computer literate family members. :)
ok, but if you wave your mouse over the jpeg in your My Pictures, then it will flash up the size of the file…. Check out properties and this may tell you your dpi.
They’re about 500kb, and I can’t work out the DPI but they’re dimesions are coming up at about 1150 × 780.
The number of dots per inch is not dissimilar to pixels ;)
slides I scan at a minimum of 1200
prints or documents I generally scan at 300 unless I am printing in which case I do them at 600
