Is it reasonable to say that domestic violence is caused by the failure of emotional control?

Probably say that about lots of things. Will requires force of emotion.I suppose. Even simple tasks. Ya conjur the mental state to do the work, the composite of whatever mind tools.

Trouble with putting failure and emotional and control together that way is it sort of gives emotions a bad name, it puts a twist on control too, a distortion perhaps. It’s a right-thinking way of stating whatever, but it’s negative in a sense too.

And a loss of fondness for the workings inside the head might be the important thing, going to the substance of your question.

You’re talking of frustrations.

So, perhaps more helpful is coping with frustrations, staying in the more normal frustration zone. I could, for example, torment you with variously responses that suggest a loss of emotional control, inclining a loss of emotional control, I might even use the term to torment you. Further, misguided enthusiasms can venture frustration.

I guess frustration could become a friend, an only friend. A nasty friend. Not a high-resource environment for maintaining normal.

I think it’s fair to say the root cause can be ascribed to many failures, of which ‘emotional control’ is one.

I don’t know if a course would do any good. Certainly lectures would be useless. But there may be some sort of course that is useful.

No

There are quite a few types of domestic violence most of them are about keeping control. But I suspect you are talking about physical violence which has many causes both across households and cultures

IMO DV is mostly inherited from parents. Teach respect at school and get parents to come along to the classes. Break the cycle.

Sounds eminently sensible.
