Anybody here operating flying drones? I think I’d like to get into this sport for photography and maybe racing. What is a good entry level model? Any info appreciated.

No I mean what do you do with them? Are they mainly just fun to fly or do you make videos or something?
When one crashes you use the second one for search and rescue…

I wonder if there’s a list of the drones that sell the best.
For second hand drones on eBay the DJI Phantom series is definitely the most popular. I checked using several search criteria. The Phantom 3 in particular.
People trying to offload them would indicate that they are not the best…
drones…?
where?

Racing drones are different.

It is worth knowing the legal framework as you can get in a bit of trouble, especially if you are uploading to youtube and the like.

I was looking at them about 12 months back but didn’t get one.
Or for lower price models, see specs for a list of 17 here.

The following website includes lists and information on all three drone categories, ie,
1 Camera drones
2 Racing drones
3 Toy drones

Amazon keeps a list of drones that it sells, each with a star rating.
https://www.amazon.com/Quadcopters-Accessories/b?ie=UTF8&node=11910405011
The quadcopters with a perfect five star rating are either very expensive eg. $1400, or very cheap eg. $100.

Pick a number n, for example n = 20
Select sort by customer review.
Reject those with < n customer reviews.
Eg. “Holy Stone X300C FPV RC Quadcopter Drone with Wifi Camera 2.4G 4CH 6-Axis Gyro RTF Headless Mode Includes Goggles and Bonus Battery” has 324 customer reviews with an average rating of four and a half stars, Price US $100.

I will eventually buy a bigger drone with a DLSR harness with smartphone app remote camera control.
Thanks for info. CN – what type of camera do you have in your drone? Can you alter settings or are you confined to auto mode?

the video has two settings 480p and 720p
those are the only settings I can change
I would like to upgrade to 1080p with livefeed for snapshots
I would also like a drone that can take a DLSR harness and smartphone app to control the camera settings and see what the drone is seeing on the smartphone
here is a tethered drone that can go up to 30m
