Just out of the photo of the pony and cart was a foal following along. We were hiking in the Swiss mountains and stopped n a field of wildflowers for a picnic when they went past. The cows were all around us and the bells were ringing all through the valley. It was like living in a postcard. Nearly too perfect.
Switzerland is obsessively clean. MrBL said they must have armies of little old men come out and mow the paddocks every night. Actually it can get a bit OTT. Even the train windows are so spotless you can take photos through the glass and it doesn’t show.

I’m enjoying seeing the places, and would love to visit some:)
It was the trip of a lifetime. 6 months of living like gypsies.
you have no idea how jealous I am, or maybe you do! Mr BG and I have always dreamed of doing a trip like this, but I went and got pregnant! Maybe when the last one has left home…

It’s all a bit hazy now. It WAS in 1982.
We might have to do it again but this time I’d like a bit more comfort. A camper van with a porter potty at least. LOL

Another plus is you lose lots of weight. We walked SO much and couldn’t afford to eat extravagantly. :)

Everyone told us that the french are rude but we got on great. I actually preferred France to Germany, and I’m part German. The trick is to try and speak a bit of french. They really appreciate the effort even if you’re hopeless. It’s more the ocker type aussies that have trouble. The french don’t like the English much but generally they’re fond of aussies. Especially around the WW1 battle fields.
Germans as a race can be very pushy.
Greece was our favourite place by far, but in the villages, not the cities. Greek cities are pretty full on and a bit agro.
Italian cities are BEAUTIFUL. My sister hated Venice because she thought it was dirty. I think she’s crackers, what’s a bit of grime when you’re surrounded by so much history.
Oh, and the glacier is Jostartalbreen. The photo of the face makes it look small but it was taken from a LONG way off.

Yes it’s the history I’m interested in. I want to see all the great Churches and Art galleries :D
Simply have to go to Italy too, Florence in particular.
The trip to Gemany will be to visit my grandmothers grave.

All images show their name before they load.
It is all in the name if you want a game.

Yeah but it only said the name of the country…not the actual landmark…had to use knowledge (or Google) for that
I’ve no idea if this will work. I’ve put more on photobucket, so anyone interested can check them out/or not. They’re terribly out of order but they’re all labeled and any questions gladly answered.

I missed one label. It’s Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland.

It’s so impressive in the flesh, so to speak. LOL
Shardlow was my maiden name and this is our ancestoral villiage. It was given to one of the first Shardlows after his exploits in the crusades. Murdering rotters they were too.
====================
A slight error there. The ancestoral villiage is SHARDLOW not MIDDLEFART. LOL
BG if you want some more bike trip jealousy take a look at my Facebook. Under my friends is a girl called Tanya. She and her husband went to China and Russia as well as lots of exotic places. She’s got some photos on her page.
