i definitely think people out there will like the concept of having a marriage of this nature. the total control aspect …it is not of interest to me though.
Sex dolls are nothing new. The Japanese seem to have taken a liking to sex dolls and sex robots. I read an article a few months ago about pedophiles using sex dolls to curb their fantasies in an effort to stop them hurting children (spoiler alert: it doesn’t work).
I posit that there are many couples out there who, for various reasons, don’t have regular sex. Perhaps inviting a sex robot for a threesome might stir the pot?

Morning all.
I wonder if using a sex robot could constitute grounds for divorce.
Constitutionally or within a marriage you mean?

I was thinking legally. Within a marriage could easily be a marriage ending event.
Okay. One would think if you had a life size robot then you would be discussing the robot with your partner anyway. I don’t image they would be small or easy to pack away due to their size but I am guessing . Although sensibly they be able to be packaged because they would be send by courier to the person at some point presumably or at least in one form of purchase.
Hard to imagine a person leaving a sex aid shop with a full body sized robot and putting the robot into the car and not look obvious about your intentions or purchase but then I also suppose the car park would be filled with people doing potentially the same type of purchase.

I’m not sure about that; I can’t see it as anything more than masturbation with an aid.

If its a robot maybe it could walk to the car.
batteries included upon purchase ha ha
Science fiction
It surprises me that we haven’t had sex robots putting prostitutes out of work for years. It’s not like they’d have to engage in any meaningful conversation or anything.
Perhaps these things are just more difficult than people make out.

Maybe people mostly like having sex with people.

according to the sex workers interviewed on the TV show “You cant ask that” many of those who seek out their services do it for the companionship and conversation also.

sex’s, errr wet, and errr….there’s the smell of sex
perspiration, errrr
it’s a wet fleshy business
generally of the hetero thing, it’s sorta guys don’t have vagina’s and mammal lumps so’s lonely without ‘em (good-part what the attraction is, both’re human, the human animal, descended equal males/females), and lady’s the converse, similarly.
so dunno, dunno about robots, their specialty’s not of the ways of the dna extraction and insertion apparatuses, the business of dna recombination, or simulations.
if you build it…
All I can think of is George Jetson screwing Rosie the Robot. Then Jane, his wife, catches them doing it.
I’m sure there are some people who would be attracted to the robotic love.
We don’t even have flying cars or internet fridges, and now they want us to marry our robots which we also don’t have.
I can’t see it becoming mainstream. Probably a bit like blow-up dolls, some people have them, but it’s not something most would own up to or like to become public knowledge. I’m sure they’ll find a niche market.
I could marry my toy Dalek but I wouldn’t want to have sex with it.

Actually they may become a prestige item to show off, since they’re likely to be very expensive.

I think I would find that a bit creepy. A vacuuming and ironing robot maybe, but not a sex robot.
I reckon the robot would be faking it too.

they could be the same thing…
I could imagine some terrible accidents. The robots are likely to be physically very powerful and could be prone to malfunction.
There might not be a great deal of difference between robot and human.

What exactly did you have in mind?
I was thinking more of just needing to be tied up and holding still for a while.

I can see that becoming a robot horse race over obstacles.

The Replicants in Blade Runner (and the book upon which it was based, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep) weren’t robots in the sense usually interpreted in this context. They were organic, but manufactured rather than bred.
Is there nothing for which a TV show does not have an answer? Episode 4 of the first series of “Humans” started to explore the “but what does it do for the marriage?” question. It made things difficult in their plotline.

I think there is a world market for maybe five sex bots.
