AA gone, 6 down. Unless Sarfraz Ahmed can control the strike for 30 overs I think that’s all she wrote.

Pakistan has a fine tradition of batting collapses, they can do this.

The bird and the lion have taken a little bit of stick in the last few overs.

That’s amazing! Is this the first time that has happened in 800 years? Probably.

A test match can last for 5 days, as you would no doubt recall. Traditionally there is always a match beginning Boxing Day.

One of the most misunderstood facets of test cricket is the number of overs allotted for a days play.
In a normal day it is 90, if the 90 overs have not been bowled by the scheduled time for stumps play can continue, however if the minimum number of overs has been bowled before the scheduled stumps play continues until stumps.
Play can also continue for half an hour past stumps to make up for lost time due to rain or bad light in previous days, the number of overs bowled has no bearing on this.

Also the powers that be have not factored in the time taken for referals.
Each referral takes at least 5 minutes, if you have 5 in a day that’s 25 minutes gone.
They should factor this in, it’s not rocket science.

There have only been two instances of a team being defeated by an innings after declaring:

2013 Australia v India at Hyderabad

and this

Also, this is the second highest first innings total to be followed by a loss by innings. The gold medal goes to England, who earlier this very year scored 477 in their first innings v India, and lost by an innings.

It was a very exciting test. I was expecting a draw because of all the rain delays. Well done Australia.

Both teams made the most of the dry periods.
