Didn’t I say “sunspots” back six months or so ago. That agrees with the OP.

BUT

Since then high resolution imagery has proved that the changes in brightness are NOT due to internal phenomena, because the star has been shown by direct imagery to have orbiting dust clouds.

Unless I have the wrong KIC.

It’s a pity it wasn’t some sort of Dyson type construction, if it was I wonder if we’d suffer from severe technology envy.

Also if we had compelling evidence for an alien civilisation around another sun would you be forcefully stopped if as a private citizen you loudly and continuously advertised our presence on Earth and detailed information about our species and cultures.
