A lot people like quick, convenient too

Convenience, and quick

I guess if there’s fast food, there’re fast people too.

Fast computers, fast cars.

Stuff people have some influence/control over.

But, in the hurried world what of peoples perceptions of that they have no control over, or little influence, does it become slow(er) by comparison, perhaps distorted.

A Tofflerish contemplation maybe.

And, did Mr Blackboard serve ideology well.

And that’s why debt is out of control. Way back when there was a phrase “No mun. No fun” If you didn’t have the money you waited until you did.

Yes. Quite the philosopher was Mr Blackboard.

I’ve noticed myself that I get impatient more often. It’s got to to stage where “denial of immediate gratification” means “toast”.

I used to sit through TV ads. Then as the pace of life increased I would get up and go to the kitchen during the TV ads. Now even that takes too long so I play computer games while waiting for the TV ads to finish. And beyond that now I play computer games during any slow part of the TV program. I used to hate it initially when miss m did that, now I do it myself.

I used to walk everywhere. Then the pace of life increased and I drove everywhere. Now the pace of life has increased so even that became too slow – so now I don’t leave the house.

Which reminds me, I must see where I can get a TV aerial signal strength monitor.

There’s a meme currently doing the rounds on Facebook about “without revealing your age, what is something from your childhood that kids today just don’t understand?”

For me, it would have to be dial phones and the transition to button-dial phones. Also just having one telco… Anyone remember when they were called Telecom?

Pluto was the Roman god of the underworld and the judge of the dead. Pluto is an alternative name for the Greek god Hades, but was more often used in Roman mythology in their presentation of the god of the underworld.

the point was of, if things that humans have little or no control over seem in some sense comparatively slower (and perhaps less relevant, or important) as there is more that humans do have influence over.

the sum of the great mass of intentions of humans (the work and affect of minds) changes the perspective of the realities of which minds have little or no influence over. A shrinking of nature. Diminishing it.
