I spend on average 15 – 20 hours per week in the garden, but very little once all the roses pruning is done, get to relax and enjoy all the winter/spring bulbs :)

They are beautiful but I couldn’t be bothered growing them…too much work…apart from the fact that OH and son (when he visits) will only let me have plants that they can eat..unless they are natives or anything that will survive predominately on rainfall only and as they do most of the work I have to put up with it ..LOL

That’s why it looks great….I’m lucky to last an hour, so if OH doesn’t get time it suffers as you can see….although this year I have been able to do a bit more because my back hasn’t been too bad

Gorgeous Thee: how roses are meant to look…do you do cut flowers for the house or just leave them on the bush?

In the town where I grew up, cut flowers were a mark of diligent house-keeping…one neighbour’s husband would not grow flowers (except for gerberas later on)…so she made do with plastic flowers… my mother used to pooh-pooh this (but not to neighbour) …back in the early 60’s it was hard if the husband did not provide you with the garden beds …

It’s a different kettle of fish when the back has been damaged from an accident, say…one still needs to be careful…I think my tailbone (injured when I was jumped by a calf) is happier now that there’s not so much pressing on it when I sit down…

AnneS, there’s gardens where you don’t have to bend over…I think hay bale gardens can do this…just a thought…

I lost 12kg about 5 years ago and then plateaued so found it hard to keep motivated….and exercise hurts so you get into a bit of a viscious cycle…about the only thing that doesn’t hurt is doing laps of the verandah…but the novelty wears off pretty quickly…LOL

Have been told to try aquaerobics..but having to drive 15kms to do it is a bit off-putting….so I just do a bit in the garden here and there when I feel up to it and take lots of rests in between…am now having a rest after doing the washing up!

I’m right with you on the plateau…my excuse for not exercising ATM is the mosquitoes…LOL…I am not a fan of aqua aerobics…swimming yes, jumping around in the water, no…I love bike riding but the dawg needs exercising and I appear to be the only volunteer…sometimes I take the bike and set the gears so I have to pedal a lot while the mutt runs along beside or chases hares…we can go down a quiet farm access road…5 miles to the drain and back…exercise is the key…

Yes you can print them or keep on the CD whatever takes your fancy. I’m not arty farty either. I can’t come with good layouts myselfs. I trawl the galleries of the digital scrapbooking sites and copy designs from there with my own stuff or use them for inspiration. Copy the layouts is called “scraplifting” and ethically you are supposed to give credit to the original scrapbooker…as I didn’t expect to upload any of my layouts to the web I never saved all the details for giving credit, but here is one that I did for my borther’s wedding album that I am still trying to complete. It was his second marriage and his wife’s first. They are both in their 50’s

Apologies to the person who originally came up with the design if you see this!!
