Several points are covered.
An industry exists that makes money out of fomenting outrage against minorities on the basis of fake news. Examples are given, including Breitbart and Teal Deer. Evidence is presented showing that it results from deliberate deception rather than simply sloppy journalism.
Reasons why large sections of the public are willing to accept fairly obvious lies are discussed, again with examples.

Morning. Had a minor bingle this morning … at a two lane roundabout.

Cloudy and warm in the styx.

Still shuddering from yesterday’s near miss. The roundabout in question is in a very short street just prior to a set of traffic lights on a railway crossing. I looked, there was no cars(the lights hold them up on one side), and started into the roundabout. Suddenly there is a 4×4with a bullbar trying to Tbone me from the right side. At this moment I’m in the roundabout and he’s going to hit me on the back wheel at best but he had only 30 metres to appear from nowhere in and the irony I always note at this roundabout is that they are risking accidents in order to have to stop within 15 metres at a red light?

Whatever happened to inner health and outward courtesy?

Giving way to the right, isn’t a requirement in a roundabout, particularly if you are already in the roundabout.

“ if you are already in the roundabout”
That’s the key phrase. All other vehicles entering the roundabout must give way to vehicles already on the roundabout.

Which most take as a right to attempt to slam themselves into the roundabout ahead of any other. I’ve seen people stop and allow the whole stream of ten to twenty cars on the right through because they are more timid than any car on their right side. It can be very frustrating if you happen to be behind that car and there are no ways around.

It’s only a few extra seconds delay which is way quicker than the time it takes to sort out the aftermath of an accident.

I made it 28:09 in and had to take a two hour nap. With a heating pad and one cat.

(It is actually interesting, but my knee was tired.)

The ABC News does that. Not on the basis of fake news, partly by using pejorative language, but mostly by interviewing and continual repetition of the views of racists. The purpose, so far as I can tell, is the same, to create hatred.

Was startled the first time I saw a 4×4 with bullbar drive straight over the top of a roundabout as if it was a speed bump. That was ten years ago.

I agree, outrage often seems to be made up to fool people into persecuting some minority or people are outraged on behalf of a minority group without actually talking to people from that minority. Or outrage is made up to get free publicity and the origins are hard to pin down. Examples of things like Muslims want Christmas banned when they haven’t even thought about such a thing let alone asked for it to occur and it appeals to closet racists who need some justification to make racist thoughts into speech.

It’s outrageous. I’m absolutely appalled. The Environmental Impact Study is flawed, and there was insufficient community consultation. I call for the minister to resign, and the Ambassador to be recalled. The perpetrators must be bought before the International Court of Justice, and an urgent meeting convened of the United Nations Security Council with the resolution be put demanding an immediate ceasefire and an end to all hostilities..
