This bug is so sneaky, it is impossible to see. But its effects are pernicious and costly and quite visible.

The first sign of being bitten is the aquisition of 1 harmless little tree…

or three…

especially looking for weird shapes and stunted growth. If the shape is not weird enough you go and buy cutters, and wires and other items of torture, and apply them to the tree…

…but then you find it is not enough, and you start acquiring all sorts of plants by fair means or foul…

…then you are seen skulking behind fruit and vegetable shops in order to obtain polystyrene boxes in any quantity…

these are, apparently, essential for the feeding of this bug…

but the final sign that you have been irrevocably stung by this bug, is when you spend an afternoon on a nursery crawl to buy more pots and trees …

Now where am I going to put them all????

Thanks for the welcome Bluegreen.

Still new to bonsai myself, only been doing it for around 10 years. Experience is mainly self taught, but also have a few good books on the subject which are great for ideas.

I endeavour to go to bonsai classes eventually.

I’m always learning something new in regards to bonsai. Well, it really is a lifetime learning experience/hobby.

I seem to have natural immunity, it doesn’t do a thing for me.

On ya Iniuria! Welcome. I have a one only Bonsai and it was given to me as a present. It was love at first sight. I didn’t realise that you need to take them with you when you go away from home for a few days, though. Like having pets that need taking care of. I’ve already got a baby ficus that’s looking like a bonsai of the future.
