So where did you go?
Strewth mate.. here’s me off to work and everyone else is having a holiday.
roughbarked, I am currently living on the Island just to the North of youse Aussies… just run full tilt up the Cape York and take a jump off the Torres Strait and you’ll find me in PNG mate!
Enjoy your day at work. Just make sure you at least hum the National Anthem at least once….
“Australians all let us rejoice…. Hmmm mmmm mmmm hmmm mmm hmmmm”
I’ll take some beer and celebrate in silence.. as I photograph sand wasps in my breaks. ;)
I managed to find some overpriced Aussie Beer in the bottle-o last week, so I have a 6 pack sitting in their waiting for the pangs of patriotism later this afternoon.
I have been invited out to a tiny local Island nearby for a bit of a wander with the locals. Might try and get some pics of the Harbour from a different perspective. It is an Island that is inhabited and tends not to get too many ex-pats just lobbing up to say G’day. So the invite has been well received.
You must be having a great time mate.. I am envious of course.
It is fun… at times. It can also be a bit disconcerting at times… I’ve seen things that I never thought I’d ever see and things I don’t ever wish to see again, but I have made some great friends and I will have some fantastic memories to keep.
It seems to be one of those places that once you have lived here, you can’t seem to get it out of your system, and I know that when I do return to Australia, I’ll always have a soft spot for the people and the landscapes of PNG.
It gladdens my heart to hear that mate.
Happy birthday australia.
my 17th Australia day.

we opened the windows last night a got a frigid night breeze – i don’t know where that came from – but we slept with two blankets.
Lamb chops and salad here later. Aussie flag stuck on the letterbox :)
Yeh… Happy Invasion Day, all ;)
Just waiting for a call to see whether a friend is having a barbie, otherwise it will be a gardening/cleaning day here.
Hope you all have a great day.
It’s absolutely hopping down here, bumper to bumper on the roads, last night we watched a big fair with all the scary rides etc while we waited for a take-away meal. I can see the attraction for the young ‘uns, but us locals will be glad of a bit of quiet!!!
bon thats what i been calling it as well.
I’m not sure how I feel about Aus Day. Some call it Invasion Day and in truth I sympathise.
Hope I haven’t opened a can of worms…….
and I AM off to a barby. :)
