Over night I lost all the worms in the 2 back worm farms. Still going strong in the light coloured farm though.
If you don’t think you have many worms in your farm….. wait until the become worm soup.
Thousands of them………
I haven’t lost worms like this since summer 1999…….

:(:( If Lucky is losing worms, that’s how I know it’s REALLY hot. Lucky looks after worms so well I’m sure hers are the last to succumb.
Take care you lot over there – look after your gardens if you can, but more importantly keep yourselves and you friends/family safe and healthy.

Greetings one and all.
I thought I would have more time available when I was on holidays …. hmmmm.
Haven’t really caught up on the posts but am sorry to hear about your wormy losses. I will gladly send you some when the weather returns to some kind of normality. My tropical worms live in permanent shade in the carport but are definately used to warm weather. They are kept pretty moist and are thriving. I don’t have an unlimited supply but certainly hope to help.

Unfortunately not all of us live in the wetter parts of Australia.
Like I am currently in a predicted ten day period of 40+ as are many in southern Australia.. This is not uncommon for my town has consistently been a record holder in this regard of up to twenty one days and more of weather over 40.. but in the past we invented evaporative Air Coolers and refrigerated storage.. In the past we could turn on a sprinkler and sttand or sit under it.
These things appear to have changed. There is no more water for playing in.
Air conditioning and refrigeration .. like cars .. seem essential.. They are all running an A/C up and down my street as I speak. They would be dead or have to leave if they didn’t have one going. Howver.. it is things like air con and cars and fridges etc.. all add up to factors which are why.. we are without water.

Huge power blackout across Melb, and youngest daughter just rang to tell me about how she and her co workers were stranded in a lift and had to be rescued.
And then her terrifying drive home ( to a friends) from work with all the traffic lights out. I’m glad I didn’t know about it at the time.

I don’t get why a power grid can’t cope with two states both having a heatwave at once . And what we pay for power bills!
Many are stranded across Melb with trains at a standstill.

Interesting, my research suggests that in a population of 1.2 million, 22 deaths in a day is about normal… although for all of these Adelaide deaths to have been elderly people would suggest that the media hasn’t mentioned the other people who dies of motor vehicle accidents, infant mortality, or other causes. It would be interesting to see how many people in total died in Adelaide on this day…
Still poor form by the Minister.
