What do you know about OCD ?
Do you know anyone who has it?
What are the symptoms?
What is the full range of treatments?
Am I right in thinking that treatments are identical to those for depression?

Some people and I do know them, actually break door handles, taps, light switches by going back to see if they turned it off or locked it properly.

OCD is not a standard set of things though but a range of things that are individual to the person. Something not talked about enough is ‘ intrusive thoughts’ as the thoughts can be extremely oppositional to the person’s value system and be thoughts that upset the individual because they wonder why such thoughts could be coming into conscious thoughts.
My personal view on intrusive thoughts is they are the manifestation of anxiety or other stresses coming through as malfunctioning images.
A person with OCD should always be reassured that the thoughts are upsetting because they don’t represent to true values of the person and their reaction is completely understandle. Their loved would know this is true as well.
People suffer from OCD and I think people shouldn’t be left to suffer with OCD but rather have open access to supports to work through anxiety triggers. There are some medications available for OCD to help reduce severity of symptoms.
Some people with OCD have developed skills to manage the drivers of their anxiety and in some instances reduced the need and frequency of need to complete repetitive tasks and take back the control.
I imagine that would make them feel good.

OCD from my understanding is an anxiety driven disorder. OCD is grouped with anxiety disorders.
The person is aware of their behaviours are not rational but the need to remove the feeling of anxiety tends to override the logic and usually results in actions, behaviours or rituals to remove the sense of anxiety , worry or the feeling of a task not being finished.OCD is not a standard set of things though but a range of things that are individual to the person. Thanks monkey skipper, that makes a lot more sense than anything else I’ve heard or read.

No prob. I like the human story of the interpretation of mental illness rather than the clinical text book because people experience mental illness , they don’t experience labels and texts on pages.

What qualifies you to talk about OCD as if you’re some sort of expert?
