The Amazing Dinosaur Found (Accidentally) by Miners in Canada
“Known as a nodosaur, this 110 million-year-old, armored plant-eater is the best preserved fossil of its kind ever found.”
When I first saw this image, I thought is was a graphic reconstruction of the living beast, but this is a photograph of the fossil. Flippin’ amazing.

Amazing indeed. The whole of the outside of this ankylosaur is a bony armour, so the outside is preserved because bones are preserved in an alkaline environment. So ankylosaurs are just about the only dinosaurs where the fossil can look exactly like the full living animal.
But equally amazing is that for this fossil some soft tissue was preserved as well.
